The Assistance with Care and Housing for the Aged (ACHA) program assists seniors experiencing difficulties in their current accommodation gain more secure and suitable housing for helping them to maintain their independence in the community.
The program began operating within SSCS Inc. in 1996 and is designed for people over 55 who are living insecurely in private rental accommodation, boarding housing or public housing. Assistance can include advocacy to access affordable housing, help with removal arrangements, improvements to existing accommodation and linking to relevant local community support such as financial and legal services.
