Our Children's Services Trainers possess qualifications in Children's Services and Early Childhood Education as well as many years experience in Children's Services. They maintain regular contact with our 5 SSCS Childcare Centres located around Canberra as well as the many centres in which we provide traineeships to their staff. We aim to be up-to-date with current issues in Children's Services and work with students to excel in their chosen career.

Advanced Diploma of Children's Services*
The Certificate III in Children's Services is an entry level course for a career in Children's Services. It caters for all learning styles and additional needs such as non-English speaking backgrounds. A large emphasis is placed on building experience and assessment within the workplace, where guidance is given and competencies are observed or achieved over a period of time. Monthly evening workshops are held for the benefit of the participants to learn together and network their ideas.
The Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Children's Services are designed for childcare professionals who already hold a Certificate III or Diploma of Children's Services respectively and wish to pursue their learning in this profession. They will also suit those professionals who have gained years of experience in Children's Services and wish to seek recognition of their competence through formal or informal learning arrangements. The Diploma qualifications include a large component of on-the-job assessment as well as written assignments and learning activities. Practical examples of the workplace are simulated and discussed to enhance learning opportunities.
Optimum's Children's Services qualifications take approximately 18 months to 3 years to complete.
